Startup LEAP is a not-for-profit organisation based in Chennai, India. We are a dedicated team of legal experts passionate about empowering new-generation entrepreneurs and startups. Our mission is to provide legal information and guidance to entrepreneurs as they take their first step towards building successful businesses.
Startup LEAP was founded by two eminent advocates, Mr Mohammed Shadaan Saipillai (Founder & Managing Trustee) and Mr Arun Kurian Joseph (Trustee). Through engaging qualified lawyers who are like-minded and believe in giving back to society as volunteers, Startup LEAP is equipped to help entrepreneurs and startups navigate the legal landscape.
At Startup LEAP , we believe that access to legal information is critical for the success of any startup. That is why we provide initial guidance pro bono, ensuring that startups in the pre-seed funding stage have access to the preliminary legal resources to get started on the right foot.
Through this first-of-a-kind legal initiative, we take pride in contributing to building a robust and inclusive startup ecosystem, which is the objective of the Make in India / Startup India initiatives of the Government of India.

We provide information on Company Law including company formation, governance and compliance with other relevant regulations including direct and indirect tax related matters.
Commercial Law
Business transactions are facilitated through contracts/agreements and the terms and conditions in the contract will be binding on the parties. We help you understand various terms and conditions in a contract and other commercial legal issues.
Intellectual Property Law
Successful implementation of an innovative idea transforms small startups into successful businesses. We know how critical it is to protect your intellectual property rights to ensure success.
In addition to providing information and guidance in these areas, Startup LEAP aims to spread legal awareness among entrepreneurs in urban cities and rural villages through legal clinics.
Our goal is to contribute towards building a robust startup ecosystem in the country and help startups succeed.
How Startup LEAP works
Applicants should send an email to legalaid@startupleap.in with a maximum of 3 queries, and block an available time-slot in the calendar shown below.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to arrange a virtual or physical meeting during the 3rd or 4th week of the month.
Each meeting will last for a maximum of 30 minutes to discuss the queries and responses.
Startup LEAP determines the eligibility of applicants, the number of applicants to offer guidance and the date and time of the meeting.
